St. George

Last Friday Nick and I headed to St. George for a mini vacation. My lovely husband had the day off so he managed to get all the laundry done (not folded) and the boys packed so that we could leave when I got home from work. Friday night we dropped the boys off with my mom so that we could go to dinner with Nick's parents at Benja Tai and Sushi. My mom had gone earlier to pick up my niece Abigail so that Bentley and her could play. I thought that was sweet of her.

Nick and I love sushi and it was such a treat to be able to go to such a great restaurant with NO KIDS and just his parents. We visited for two hours about everything. Before we knew it it was after nine and we decided to wrap things up. Thanks Doug and Cindy for such a wonderful time out!

Saturday, we woke up to a hot blueberry waffle breakfast with eggs, bacon and hash browns. My mom and dad sure know how to cook up a mean breakfast! The kiddos loved it as Grandma had each one of them help make something. She has so much patience! After breakfast we loaded up and headed over to Costco. ON A SATURDAY! It was crazy and we knew it would be. When we lived there we made sure to avoid going to do our Costco trips during the week, but we were going through withdrawls and enjoyed every minute of the hustle and bustle! Nick about croaked at the check out, but the trip was to long in the waiting that our list was so long. After we checked out we sat and let the kids eat. Bentley wanted a churro, hotdog and yogurt so what does Grandma do? Gets him ALL THREE! Nixon wanted a smoothie and then yogurt so she made two trips through the long line just for him. What a Grandma! The boys love her to death.

After Costco Nick took my dad home and the boys over to his parents so the kids could visit with Grandma and Grandpa Westbrook while my mom, Abigail and I went to Target and then home. I needed to get some wrapping paper for my friends Bridal shower gift. I ran home wrapped it up with my moms help and was off to Jessica's shower (the whole purpose for the trip).

My great friend Jessica is getting married to Ty Empey on March 12th! Saturday was her shower and it was great to go and see so many friends that I haven't seen in years! I'll admit I was a bit nervous too...since I hadn't seen or kept in close contact with many of them (which I feel bad about and hope to change)... would it be awkward? would we have anything to talk about? Well it turns out it was a blast as if those years with out seeing them had never passed. Below are some pics I was able to snap at the party.

Jessica Harward, Jaclyn Lamereaux, Kacee Payne
Sue (Jess's mom), Nikki (her sister), and Jessica (Bride)
Brittney's sister, Brittney, me and Mikayla (sp?)
 Jessica and her sister Nikki.
 Jess and I
Me, Kacee, Jessica and Chelci. Chelci is getting married this Friday!

I met Jessica in the third grade. I remember she loved running and she was good at it! She was always so beautiful and still is. We became closer as the years went on. I remember so many summers spent at the river or laying out. We cheered together. In fact I was a flyer and she was one of the other ones. I always looked up to her. She was so academically talented. She currently teaches at east elementary. I thought that she would have been the first out of us to get married. Isn't it crazy to see what really ends up happening and where each of our journey's lead us? Jess I am super happy for you and wish you the best and can't wait to be there on the twelfth when you are sealed!

Later that night my sister-in-law Heidi came over with her other daughter Clara and we ordered in Cafe Rio and just ate it at my moms. So Relaxing! We then put Nixon to bed and had a YW come over and sit so that we could go support my cousin Max at his semi-final and final basketball games! It was so fun. I was cheering and yelling so loud I thought that I wasn't going to have a voice this morning. It was intense at times. The old cheerleader totally came out in me! It brought back so many fun memories. My cousin Max plays Basketball, Baseball and Football year round. He plays on all star traveling teams when he isn't playing for his school. Below are a few pictures that we took.

Not sure why its so blurry but Max shooting a free throw
Nick, Bentley and Max after he won his first game.
For Christmas my Aunt let Max make a customized pair of Basketball shoes at Nike id online. Aren't they sweet?

His team and the coaches. They took the championship.
Max giving his mom (number one fan) a big hug!
My aunt Kandra, Max and his dad Brad.
Myself, Max and Nick after the last game.
Bentley telling Max that he was number one!

We had such a great time. We stayed up until 1 am just chatting as a family. We woke up early today (Sunday) and had another great breakfast and packed up. We headed over to Westbrook's to pick up some meat and say our goodbye's. It was great to see my sister-in-law Mickell and two of her lil ones as well. Fairwell St. George until we meet again in two weeks :)

sweet nothings..

I am driving in the car about an hour ago and Bentley is being his inquisitive self like always and just when I felt I couldn't answer one more question his attention turns to his brother...

Bentley: "Nixon you know....it's getting kinda dark outside now GO TO SLEEP!!!" Mind you it was
dark out and when he said go to sleep he yelled it.

Nixon: "OKAAAAAAAAAAY!" (Nixon does this frequently where he will just hold it out forever)
Bentley: "Now Nixon I mean it, if you don't go to sleep right now Santa won't come next year!"
Nixon:"OKAAAAAAAAAAY!"
Bentley:"Now where was I mom?"

Seriously, my kids are the cutest ever! I was just grinning hold back my laughter as those two were carrying on there conversation. I haven't been real good at journaling the little things my kids say, but after inspiration from Katie and Hillary I think I'll start ;)

And I'll add some cute pictures of the boys Sunday before we headed to church!

Check out this blog!

I was on my friend Jessica's blog and she had a link to this. I checked it out and totally loved it. It gives me the motivation to refinish furniture!

Valentine's with the Westbrook's

Valentine's this year wasn't all that exciting because both Nick and I had to work. I got home late Sunday night from Utah and stayed up until 12:30 preparing for Valentine's. I had to make Bentley's for his pre-school party and I had to put together Nick's as well as my kiddos. It was worth all the work late at night.

Above are the Valentine's that Bentley took for his class mates. They are sand shoves with the conversation hearts attached. The sticker reads "I dig you, Love Bentley." I saw the idea for these on a blog that I follow. The sticker was created by a Caitlin.
Bentley took this box above with fortune cookies in it for his teacher. It reads, "I'm so fortunate to have you as my teacher!"
I was lazy and smart I would say ha ha because I just went over to the local Panda Express and asked for extra cookies while ordering. I knew that I couldn't make them any better. I just dipped them in white chocolate and sprinkles.
For Nick I just bought a six pack of Rootbeer and for the boys they each got a new movie. Pretty simply, but I was so tired by then of candy and didn't want to have to keep fighting with them on how much they could have or when they could have it. They were both really happy!

I had to drive to Bullhead for work that day and so I had Nick drive down with me. It was about the only time we were able to spend together that day. It was fun though. When I got home from work that afternoon there was a vase of roses and an adorable card. I love when he writes his thoughts down on a card it makes me blush ;)
Later in the afternoon I decided I had better get on the Robots that Bentley and I wanted to give to his friends that weren't in his pre-school class. It was a bit hectic because Bentley insisted on helping. The robot is just a box of tic tacs, 3 starbursts, 4 M&M's and some silly eyes. Again, I had a Caitlin design the wrapper and it read, "I'm nuts and bolts about you, Love Bentley." Way easy and fun for boys!
Bentley so proud of the robots he helped with! Love you bud.
While I was in Utah I picked up these cute blocks and figured they could be my Valentine to my friends. I got them at Krumpets in Utah. I love that store :)
Hillary brought over some goodies for the boys. The water bottle was from Callie and it was "Love Juice!" The cute airplane was from Jack!

Bentley & Lacey helped me make these Peanut Butter cookies. I had every intention of making sugar cookies to but never got around to it.

It was starting to get late as I was finishing the robots and Lacey had shown up so we decided since both of our husbands were working that we would just go out to Chili's without them! We had fun. What a way to end the day. Hope each of you had a great V-day!

Life just got easier!

I don't know how many other mother's out there have a hard time keeping there little ones out of the pantry, but I sure do! In fact I have had a hard time with my kiddos for probably 2 years now. Why I have waited until now to finally do something about it...I have no clue?! Nick a few weeks ago bought some locks at Home Depot, but has never put them on. Yesterday, I was talking to Hillary and she mentioned that last week sometime she put up a hook and eye latch on her pantry door. DING DING DING! The bells were going off for me! I sent Nick to return the locks he had bought this morning and had him come home with the hook and eye locks!

Above is the hook and eye :D
I knew that it was only a matter of time until the kids attempted to get in there for a snack but I was ready with the camera for when they did! Bentley's first attempt!
Bentley couldn't,  he called his younger brother over Nixon to try... Nope..Nixon couldn't either!
So then Bentley tells Nixon, "Maybe if we both try and push the door it will open!"
NOPE
Mom has defeated these two little mischief makers!!

Getting Taller

Nixon thinks he is so BIG! He kept reaching up and turning the bathroom light on and then looking back at me with this intelligent grin like mommy look what I can do now!
Nixon you are so sweet! I am so glad that I get to be your mom.
